The Yorkshire Vet star Julian Norton and Ted Lasso actor Annette Badland have given a talk during an event to celebrate 90 years of Brooke and its care of working horses and donkeys.

During the event to thank the charity’s supporters, which took place at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, Annette interviewed Julian about his relationship with Brooke and his love for animals which led him to train as a vet.

Julian, who is an advocate for equine welfare, has supported Brooke for many years, while Annette attended the annual Animals in War Memorial remembrance on behalf of Brooke last year. The pair also both attended Brooke’s 90th anniversary reception at Buckingham Palace in May.

“It was inspiring to meet Brooke’s supporters this week, for such an important cause. May Brooke’s transformative work with animals and communities continue,” said Julian.

“I was thrilled to represent Brooke at this fantastic event. It gives me unbridled aspiration to see the work Brooke is doing to support working animals and give them a life worth living. I will shout about it whenever I get the opportunity,” said Annette, who plays barmaid Mae in the hit US sitcom Ted Lasso.

Trust donate to sponsor event

The event was sponsored by the Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust, which has donated over £1 million to the charity so far.

“This event shows how our supporters are making a positive difference to the lives of working animals worldwide. We want to thank them for their incredible support, and hope the event leaves them inspired, informed and motivated to continue standing alongside us,” said Chris Wainwright, chief executive of Brooke.

“We also thank the Royal Armouries Museum for hosting our event, and the Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust, our sponsor of Brooke’s 90th anniversary.”

Brooke helps save working horses and donkeys across Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean from suffering by educating owners and animal health owners around the world.
