The British Horse Society (BHS) is receiving applications for its 2022 Charity Races.

The pair of races will be held at Wetherby on 28 October and Newbury on 3 November and there will be 12 jockeys for each race.

“Taking part in your chosen race will be the most remarkable and exhilarating experience of a lifetime,” said a spokesman for the BHS. “It entails a considerable amount of hard work and dedication, but more than worth it.”

Each race will be run over one mile on the flat and participants will need a horse that is in training with a registered trainer or a Point to Pointer.

“The fitness test is tough and you will need to be in training to pass this,” the charity spokesman added.

The weight on the race day will be set at 11 stone including your kit. The minimum fundraising required to participate is £2,500 and those funds can be put to the BHS campaign of your choice.

“It was a day I shall never forget!” said winner of the 2021 Newbury BHS Charity Race, Amy Ferris. “Coming to the finish line in front was quite surreal – I thought ‘Did this really just happen to me?’ As a team we all worked so hard to get to race day in one piece and it was a total pleasure to line up with the seven other riders.”
