Five horses and ponies will be contesting the Search for a Star Open Veteran Championships at Your Horse Live on Friday 11 November.

The finalists include Abbas Blue Rainbow, who is owned by Anna Dunn and ridden by Ella Dunn from Dundee. The chestnut gelding is 19 years old and has been showing his whole life.

He suffers from EMS so the Dunn’s said they have to manage him very carefully.

“He does workers too and really enjoys galloping and hacking in the stubble fields,” they said.

He will be up against Cottrell Riverdance (Ronnie), who is owned by Selina Bowles and ridden by Millie Bowles from Kent.

The 25-year-old, Welsh Section B, won the amateur veteran and the in-hand veteran finals at the Search for a Star Your Horse Live finals in 2021.

A former mounted games pony, Ronnie came to the Bowles’ at 18 years-old for a quieter life.

Dollar Boy will also be in this class. He is owned and ridden by Alexander Osborn from Worcestershire.

The 18-year-old skewbald gelding is as Leo at home. Leo took part in the Search for a Star cob finals in 2010 at Horse of the Year Show. He has also nannied other horses and riders, jumped up to 90cm, hunted and taught numerous people to ride.

Icelady joins Leo at Your Horse Live. She is owned and ridden by Victoria Timperley from Cheshire and is 21 years old.

Victoria has owned her “horse of a lifetime” since she was four. They have competed in intermediate show hunters going to HOYS and the Royal International Horse Show several times.

Completing the class finalists is Redback Cappuccino, owned and ridden by Katherine Jones from Worcestershire.

The 17-year-old is a former HOYS and Your Horse Live Search for a Star finalist. Redback Cappuccino is an ex-racehorse and has also contested several Racehorse to Riding Horse qualifiers.
