The Association of Professional Bit and Bridle Fitters (APBBF) is promoting a message of unity in welfare surrounding horse tack, whether bitless or bitted, as it announces its official relaunch.
The APBBF is striving to make equine comfort and science-based fitting the standard for every horse, regardless of the equipment used, and maintains that their comfort needs — like protecting sensitive nerves, managing poll pressure, and allowing free movement — are always the same.
The Association wants to raise awareness through its Learning Hub, which is a free resource that aims to simplify bridle fitting for horse owners and riders.
The Hub includes breakdowns of equine anatomy and biomechanics, as well as instructional videos and downloads to help owners check their horse’s equipment at home.
Equestrians can also search the Association’s member directory so they can be confident they are working with a trusted, qualified, and insured professional.

APBBF is accepting membership applications from professional fitters and paraprofessionals, like vets, physios, dental technicians, and bodyworkers, who recognise the importance of bridle fit in overall horse welfare.
“The APBBF relaunch is more than just a new look,” said a spokesman for the association. “It shows our commitment to the ‘Head to Hand, connection.
“We invite all equestrians to use our resources and all professionals to join us in shaping the future of bridle fitting. Together, we can make sure that every horse, whether bitted or bitless, enjoys the comfort of a perfect fit.”
