In a new show about Charlotte Dujardin and the London International Horse Show, Olympia, the dressage star is overcome by emotion and has to leave the set while discussing the relationship and many successes she had at the Christmas fixture with her wonder horse Valegro.

Charlotte later returns, ready to talk about her other Olympia successes and the emotional farewell ceremony held there for Valegro’s retirement in 2016.

Charlotte Dujardin: The Magic of London, in partnership with Saracen Horse Feeds, is available to watch now on Horse & Country TV.

The show explores the three-way relationship between Olympia, Charlotte and her wonder horse Valegro.

During an interview with presenter Lizzie Greenwood-Hughes, Charlotte discusses her love for Olympia and some of the highlights of her and Valegro’s many successes in the famous arena.

“But Olympia was a target for Charlotte long before Valegro came into her life,” said a statement. “As a young child, her appearance in costume, as a chicken, in the Christmas Finale show was the start of a lifelong love affair and a determination to one day perform on the main stage.”

When asked about Valegro’s retirement, while he was still at the pinnacle of his career, Charlotte’s reply is clear:

“She doesn’t have a single regret and takes huge pleasure in his life today, still sound, still being ridden, and still realising the dreams of thousands of people who want to meet the legendary dancing horse,” revealed the statement.
