Ariat Heritage Contour II Field Zip Tall Riding Boot

A sleek and elegant riding boot suitable for multi-disciplines

First impressions

These boots are absolutely gorgeous to look at and the leather is soft and supple. The sienna shade which was trialled is elegant and more interesting than a standard black boot. The leather feels fairly thin but appears strong and the footbed looks like it would provide good impact protection.

Fit

I sized up in these boots (both in height and calf width) from my go-to Bromont boots. I trialled these boots in wide, medium height, shoe size 5.5, after ordering medium, short and finding them too tight. Unfortunately I have not been blessed with slim long legs, but these boots fitted well when I went up a size and gave an elegant appearance, with definition around the calf. Now I just need a brown saddle…

Performance

They required very little breaking in and the soft supple leather made them very comfortable. The zip feels robust and was easy to pull up. I’ve ridden them for hacking, schooling and at shows and they worked well for all of these activities. They aren’t insulated like some of the other Ariat boots, so you might be best wearing them when it’s milder if you suffer from cold feet in the winter.

Value for money

The boots cost £270, so are a considerable investment, but for a pair of long riding boots that look great and perform well, you would struggle to find something similar for less. I have only been riding in the boots for around six months but they haven’t shown any signs of wear to date.
