A strong line up will contend the SEIB Insurance Brokers Search for a Star Pony Club First Ridden and Lead Rein 2022 Championships at Your Horse Live next month (11 November).

Among those who have qualified for the First Ridden is Ballyhill Boy, who is owned by Stacey Erwin and ridden by Paige Erwin from Crumlin, Northern Ireland.

‘Bo Bo’ attends the East Antrim Pony Club with seven-year-old Paige and the pair have been a partnership since she was two.

Desabre Sparrow Hawk, owned by Victoria Cable and ridden by Lucia Cable from Essex, will also be in the First Ridden class. They are members of the Puckeridge Hunt branch and also compete in hunter trials, dressage and tetrathlon, as well as attending camp.

Lucia will be joined by Abigail Piper from Glamorgan, who rides six-year-old Honey Bee, owned by Victoria Piper.

Abigail and Honey Bee are members of the Glamorgan branch of the Pony Club. According to Abigail, Honey loves showjumping and working hunter pony.

They will be competing in the class alongside Just The Way You Are, owned by Sara Ridgway and ridden by Emily Ridgway from Oxfordshire.

The skewbald gelding is a part-bred Welsh pony, known as Bruno at home. Emily and Bruno are members of the Old Berks Hunt branch.

Larchgrove Isabella has also qualified for the class. ‘Issy’ is owned by Connie Elliott and ridden by Emily Elliott from Newark.

The Welsh section b attends the Rufford branch and competes in all Pony Club activities, from hunter trials to
showjumping to dressage, with Emily.

Last but not least, Welsh section A Nerwyn Leonardo, owned by Sarah Fraser and ridden by Annabel Fraser from Cumbria, will complete the first ridden line up.

The Fraser family have owned Leonardo for 10 years. Annabel is a member of the Cumberland Farmers Hunt North branch.

Lead rein contenders

The lead rein championships will feature some stunning ponies including Blackhill Osprey, who is owned by Lisa Croft and ridden by Millie Croft from Nottinghamshire.

Welsh section A ‘Ozzy’ attends the Rufford branch with Millie, having enjoyed camp, picnic rides, dressage and showjumping together.

Fellow Welsh section A Clearfell Bumblebee is owned by Sophie Milczarek and ridden by Florence Milczarek from
Staffordshire.

They will also be in the lead rein class and have been a partnership since Bumblebee was backed. Florence is a member of the Wheatland Pony Club.

Collstone Caventina, owned by Jamie Clarke and ridden by Charlotte Knight, from Birmingham have also qualified for Your Horse Live.

‘Dixie’ is a Dartmoor and attends Worcestershire Hunt branch with Charlotte.

They will be joined by Thistledown Elpaso in the championships. ‘Elivs’ is owned by Heather Hiscox and ridden by Emily Hiscox from Warwickshire.

The pair have completed farm rides, tetrathlon, shows and Pony Club camp together. Emily is a member of the North Warwickshire branch.

Saintjohnstar Harry Potter

Saintjohnstar Harry Potter (Harry) completes the lead rein line up. He is owned by Zara Wardle and ridden by Eirin Wardle from Newtownards, Northern Ireland.

Eirin is a member of the North Down Pony Club and the pair have competed in all Pony Club activities including dressage and tetrathlon.
