Two foals have died after the trailer they were travelling in collided with a car on the M25 on Saturday (7 October).

Police are appealing for witnesses following the fail-to-stop collision, which took place in Enfield.

Officers were called to the scene at 8:50am on Saturday, between junctions 24 and 25 eastbound, following reports that a car –a Grey Volkswagen Sharan Second Generation had collided with a horse trailer being towed by a silver Fiat Ducato van.

The trailer, which was carrying two five-month-old foals, overturned. The driver of the car it collided with left the scene.

One of the horses was killed in the collision and the other had to be put down due to the severity of the injuries it had sustained.

“Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating,” said a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police, in a statement issued on 8 October.. “They would like to speak with anyone who saw the collision or captured it on dash cam.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 1969/07Oct.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
