Former Reaseheath College and University Centre student and equine lecturer Tyler Simpson has launched a National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) programme at the college. The programme will give students the opportunity to train, compete and represent Reaseheath in dressage and showjumping. 

Tyler studied Further and Higher Education equine courses at Reaseheath before developing a career in the industry. He now competes in dressage at regional and national level and eventing at regional, national and international level. 

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to gain competition experience, work as part of a team and develop their confidence,” said Tyler.

“I’ve been fortunate to learn from some brilliant coaches throughout my career and I’m looking forward to helping students develop their skills, achieve their goals and make the most of every opportunity available to them.”

Developing opportunities

The NSEA programme is part of the wider range of opportunities available to Reaseheath equine students to develop their practical skills and gain experience beyond their core studies.

“Tyler is a real asset to our equine team. He brings industry insight, a genuine passion for coaching and a level of professionalism that really resonates with our students,” added James Rayner, Curriculum Area Manager for Equine.

“Having people with current industry and competition experience working alongside our students is a really important part of what we offer at Reaseheath.

“We have students coming to us with a wide range of experience. Some have never owned a horse or competed before, while others arrive with significant competition experience. This programme allows us to support both ends of that spectrum.”
