Kynren – The Storied Lands, a new historical theme park in County Durham, is expanding its cavalry team ahead of its opening this summer.

Tulipo, Marshall Bugsy and Tonti have joined the equine team and will support both the Kynren night show, An Epic Tale of England, and the new immersive theme park.

Horses are an integral part of the night show and feature as part of the procession as well as in medieval jousting and carriage driving scenes. They will also take part in live-action shows, stunts, and themed areas in the new theme park.

All of the new horses have been selected not only for their presence and ability, but for their temperament and versatility, with the team opting for grey horses to also allow greater visibility during night time performances.

Settling in well

Tulipo, a six-year-old Andalusian, Bugsy, a four-year-old Shire, and Tonti, a five-year-old Andalusian have all settled in well to life at Kynren and have been described as “calm and good-natured horses who have adapted quickly to their new surroundings”.

“The most important thing for us is always that the horses feel comfortable and settled. Tulipo and the others have all taken everything in their stride so far, which is exactly what you want to see,” said Laurie Robinson, director of Cavalry and Estates.

“We’ll take our time, build their training steadily and make sure each horse develops in the right way. They’re already proving to be fantastic additions to the team.”

Kynren – The Storied Lands will open from Saturday 18 July – Saturday 12 September. For more information and to book tickets, click here.
