An 11-year-old YouTube star was victorious in the show ring at Hickstead’s Longines Royal International Horse yesterday (26 July). Harlow White took the BSPS Heritage Mountain & Moorland Supreme Mini Championship on her mother’s Dartmoor pony Coppinshill Commemoration (Rolo).

“I went into that ring with no expectations at all – I just wanted to get round, have fun, and do the best we could,” said Harlow, who won the Heritage First Ridden class to qualify for the championship. “I just can’t explain how I feel right now – Rolo just deserves the whole world.”

The Poole-based rider was competing at the show for the first time aboard Rolo, a nine-year old by Springwater Happy Day out of Shilstone Rocks Another Beach.

“He’s so well-behaved, but to be honest, I didn’t think I’d come first – when they read out second place, I thought, ‘well, I’ve got no chance now!’ But never say never, because dreams do come true,” added Harlow.

Harlow has 180,000 followers on Instagram, 397,000 subscribers on YouTube, and her own range of clothing. She juggled competing alongside a series of meet-and-greets and signings for her many fans.
