A lump of concrete has been thrown at a travelling horsebox in what is believed to have been a deliberate act.

The Iveco horsebox was on the A14 at Newmarket, on the westbound carriageway near Junction 38, when it was struck by the object.

It was passing under a bridge as it was hit, causing “significant damage”.

Suffolk Police is appealing for information after the incident, which took place on Saturday 26 March at 3.45pm.

A spokesman for the force confirmed to Your Horse that they are appealing for information, and that they believe the “large” object was thrown deliberately.

Officers would like to hear from anyone driving in the area at the time who saw anyone acting suspiciously on an overbridge. Any motorists with dashcams in their vehicle are asked to review the footage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Crime Coordination Centre, quoting reference: 37/18197/22.
