  • 5 winners will each receive a £200 voucher for The Open College of Equine Studies

Whether you’re looking to start a new career, increase your experience within a current role or would like to gain knowledge as a new horse owner, The Open College of Equine Studies has a course to suit you.

TOCES is the world’s leading equine distance learning college for students both in the UK and internationally, and is based in the heart of rural East Anglia near Newmarket, Suffolk in its new, purpose-built equine education centre.

Courses run from a basic level 1 through to higher education level 6 and are open to students from 14 years old upwards.

Some courses can be studied by tutor supported e-learning 100% from home (distance learning) while other courses involve study week attendance to supplement the distance learning (blended learning).

There is a course available through TOCES to suit all levels, from basic level through to degree level, whether you are a happy hacker, pony-owning parent or aspire to develop or change your career, perhaps into veterinary nursing or equine therapeutics.

Courses can be studied around work, horse, and family commitments; you do not need to work with horses to study with TOCES. Courses include BHS Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4, Stable Management, Anatomy, Nutrition, First Aid, Reproduction, Behaviour, Instructional Teaching and Equine Sports Massage, plus a whole range of other subjects.

Most of the courses range in value from £100-£150, which means the £200 voucher will secure up to two courses to help you improve your equine knowledge or start your journey to a new career.

TOCES offers students a great learning experience where they have access to an extensive range of online study resources including course materials, videos, webinars, online and tutor-supported assessments.

Students also receive course advisor and administrative support throughout their course — this has gained the college a reputation for having a friendly and personal approach with its students.

Some TOCES courses are recognised by leading organisations and industry bodies. TOCES is approved by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), the Register for Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners (RAMP), the British Horse Society (BHS), Lantra, City and Guilds (C & G), Pearson (Edexcel – BTEC), the Institute of Registered Veterinary & Animal Physiotherapists (IRVAP), the International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT) and the Accreditation Committee for Veterinary Nurse Education (ACOVENE).
