The Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing (4-6 August 2023) is celebrating its 40th anniversary at Gatcombe Park this year and to assist in those celebrations the event is offering two lucky Your Horse readers the chance to win four season admission passes each — so a treat for the whole family. The passes are valid for all three days of the event, while a free forward parking ticket will also be a part of the package. Just as exciting as the action will be the unique opportunity for the winners to walk the famous hilly cross-country course with a well-known rider, plus the chance to visit behind the scenes in the lorry park and stables — a real ‘money can’t buy’ opportunity.

The Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing was set up in 1983 when The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips decided to stage it for the first time to celebrate the sport of eventing. Since then it has grown into one of the eventing highlights of the year.

The first weekend in August now sees competitors of the highest calibre vie for the top prizes at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire, contesting no less than five National Championship titles: the Magic Millions British Open, the Evelyn Partners British Intermediate Championship, the Dodson & Horrell British Novice Championship, the TopSpec Challenge for The Corinthian Cup, and the RoR/NTF Retrained Racehorse Event Championship. With so many championship titles on offer, the Festival is a true showcase for all levels of eventing.

As ever, the undulating cross-country course will take centre stage over the weekend, and the Magic Millions British Open sees competitors run in reverse order of merit, making for an exciting climax as the leader sets out last on a mission to try to win the coveted title. The Park Bowl is one of the best places to watch the cross-country action, and it is also the perfect place to picnic — then you won’t miss a moment of the excitement.

This exceptional location also provides a fantastic opportunity for spectators to view an array of other competitions, including Pony Club showjumping, the Shetland Pony Grand National, Arena Eventing and dog agility. Visitors can also enjoy extensive shopping and dining opportunities, with over 100 tradestands on site, offering quality items from homewares and country clothing to art and jewellery alongside food outlets selling many local treats. There really is something for all of the family at this popular competitive venue.
