When you own a water-obsessed dog, a dog robe becomes a necessity rather than a nice to have. They help dry your dog quickly and prevent cars, sofas and dog beds from getting damp and dirty, and leaving that wet dog smell.
Barely a day goes by when my four-year-old Labrador, Fred, doesn’t take himself into a stream, pond or puddle on our walks. He is at his happiest when getting wet and muddy; he is not so happy when we return home and he has to go under the hose.
However, putting him in the Tielle Luxury Dog Haus Collection dog robe seems to put a smile back on his face and he seems happy, warm and comfortable when wearing it.

Tielle, the brand behind the linen in some of the world’s most famous five-star hotels, has launched the Dog Haus collection with the aim of providing dog owners with comfortable, stylish and practical items to use both at home and on the go.

Bundle
As well as the dog robe, the Dog Haus collection also includes a mat with either a microfibre or sherpa fleece backing and a towel. The mat contains a waterproof membrane, which means it is perfect to put your dog’s food and water bowls on.
The three items, which all come in the colour forest green, can be bought separately or as a bundle in a cotton bag. I have the bundle and the bag is really handy.
You don’t have to be too precise to fit all items in, you can just shove them in and they easily fit. A draw string handle means they won’t fall out, they all stay together and they can be stored neatly.
Effectiveness
The dog robe slips easily over Fred’s head and then fastens under his neck and tummy with easy-to-use Velcro strips. It covers the whole length of his body from head to tail and drops down to cover the tops of his legs.
It has a wide strap under the tummy to ensure that part of his body is covered too.

The robe is made from microfibre and is available in three sizes — 4-6kg, 10-15kg and 22-32kg — to suit a range of different size dogs.
The material is really soft and very absorbent — Fred dries in no time, as does the robe, which means it is ready to be reused quickly and doesn’t leave that damp towel smell.

I have had dog robes before and the material can often be quite thick, but one of the things I like about this one is that the material is a bit thinner and therefore more appropriate for warmer temperatures.
The gold piping around the edge of the dog robe also adds a touch of class and looks smart together with the forest green.
If you would like a personalised touch, embroidery is also available on the dog robe, although you will need to allow 10 days for this to be completed.
Fit
Fred wears a large size which gives him ample room. He’s partial to the zoomies after a walk and he can easily charge around the garden at full pelt while wearing it without any restrictions!
Ideally, I would have preferred one which is slightly smaller, but with only three sizes available, choice is limited and he certainly wouldn’t fit in the next size down, which is for dogs weighing 10-15kg.
The dog robe is nice and broad across the chest, so you can do the Velcro on the neck up and it stays in place.
In the past I’ve had dog robes which are too narrow across the chest and the robe keeps slipping back, making it hard for Fred to walk and uncomfortable for him to lie down.
With this one he seems happy to do anything — sitting, lying, walking, running… I don’t think he realises he is wearing it!

The Velcro fastening on the neck together with the ones on the tummy work well. They are well placed and robust, so they keep the robe secure.
Extras
The towel is a great size and is very absorbent. It is also lovely to have a new dog-specific towel rather than using an old human one, which has seen better days!

The mat is really useful and can be used for many things. I’ve used it as a mat for Fred to lie on as well as under his water and food bowls to keep them still and mop up any splashes.
The fleece top and sherpa backing make it super soft and comfortable.

Verdict
I don’t know how I’d live without a dog robe for Fred given his love for water and it is no exaggeration when I say I use it almost every day!
The fact that this one is slightly thinner and lighter makes it perfect for spring and summer and I love the forest green colour — it looks great on Fred.
One thing that this dog robe is missing is a hook or loop so you can hang it up. There aren’t any leg straps, so you can’t use them, so I end up draping it over the back of a chair, which isn’t ideal and a loop would be more useful.
Overall, though, having the bundle is a real treat and it is so lovely to have a set of matching items. I highly recommend this product.
