Redwings Horse Sanctuary will host the fourth National Human-Animal Bond Awareness Day (NHABAD) next Sunday (19 July).
StreetVet, a charity delivering veterinary care to the pets of those experiencing homelessness, will be collaborating with other charities and organisations to host a day of talks at Redwings Caldecott.
The aim of the day is to increase awareness of the many charities, organisations and individuals who promote the relationship between humans and animals and all of the benefits they bring to us through therapy, work and companionship.
The NHABAD will include talks from animal health experts and inspirational individuals, as well as a children’s drawing workshop with Hercule Van-Wolfwinkle of Rubbish Pet Portraits.
In the run up to the day, social media posts will inform animal lovers about the ways in which they can assist the charities involved. The campaign encourages the public to help in ways other than purely donating funds, including volunteering time and skills.
“Many of us have, or have previously, experienced relationships with animals that are unique,” said Tammie O’Leary, co-founder & Director of NHABAD.
“Animals are often a constant in our lives for good reason. The support animals provide us is truly powerful, emotionally, mentally and physically.
“The NHABAD is an opportunity to educate, interact, have fun and inspire people to understand more about each of the charities involved.
“Animals help us to become better humans. There is no judgement and endless unconditional love which everyone can appreciate.
“This campaign’s aim is to increase awareness of the ways in which animals assist us through their companionship or skills.”
The event will be held at Redwings Caldecott, between Great Yarmouth and Beccles between 10am-4pm. Admission is free and dogs are welcome.
There will be opportunities to donate towards the charity through a raffle and also by requesting individually signed cards by Hercule Van Wolfwinkle.
