The British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) has launched the 2023 BETA Trade Awards to celebrate the equestrian industry. This year’s awards feature three new awards and one new category in one of the awards voted for by the public.

“We are delighted to launch the BETA Business Awards,” said Claire Williams, Executive Director of BETA. “Behind the scenes, members of the trade work incredibly hard to provide for equestrians and this is a great opportunity to celebrate them. We have a mix of customer and trade nominated categories, and all are open to BETA and non-BETA members, to give everyone a chance to shine.”

Celebrating excellence

This year, the following categories will be awarded:

  • BETA Safety Equipment Fitter of the Year. This new award celebrates those who professionally fit hats and body protectors. Nominations can be made from customers as well as retail stores who may want to nominate an in-house fitter. Entry deadline 30 June, 2023.
  • Zebra Products Retailer of the Year. This award is broken into three categories: Equestrian Retail Store; Online/Mail Order Retailer; and Best New Retailer (new award). This award is looking for the very best equestrian retailers and relies on nominations from customers for the first stage. After nominations, retailers will be sent a form before a shortlist is compiled, a member vote, mystery shoppers and telephone calls to establish the winners. Entry deadline 30 June, 2023.
  • Stubbs England Nutritional Helpline of the Year. This award helps to showcase and highlight feed helplines in the industry. The winner will need to show excellent product knowledge alongside nutritional expertise with the shortlist being tested through incognito calls. Nominations are invited from customers. Entry deadline 7 July, 2023.
  • Equine Fitters Council Equine Fitter Award. This new award recognises the contribution that skilled saddle, bridle and bit fitters make to horse welfare and their competence in their craft. Nominations are invited from customers. Entry deadline 30 June, 2023.
