Improve your horse’s rhythm, suppleness and core strength with vet physiotherapist Sammy Finnemore’s hexagon-shaped polework grid.

Rhythm and suppleness are the first two elements of the six scales of training, which is what you should use to ensure that your horse develops correctly.

If you step off this path and work on things that your horse isn’t yet ready for, it can lead to future training hiccups or even injury.

Polework is a useful and fun way to tackle these two important aspects — it will also do fabulous things for your horse’s core strength.

If you don’t have enough poles to build the full grid, build a smaller version or set up just one part of it at a time.
