Burghley Horse Trials
This year’s Defender Burghley Horse Trials takes place 2-6 September 2026.
The CCI5* is one of the highlights of the eventing autumn calendar and Martyn Johnson is the event director, while Derek di Grazia designs the cross-country course.
All the action kicks off on Wednesday with the first horse inspection. This is followed by two days of top-level dressage, before the cross-country phase takes place on Saturday. The event concludes with the showjumping, which runs in reverse order of merit, on Sunday.
As well as the top-level eventing action, spectators can also look forward to the Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse Finals for four- and five-year-old horses, as well as masterclasses and around 500 tradestands for a spot of retail therapy.
