Sam Turner is a Ride With Your Mind biomechanics dressage coach. She is probably best known for achieving her "slightly mad" goal of training and competing the first traditional Gypsy Cob, Cuffstown Rumble ('Billy Whizz') to grand prix level dressage. She also rides Audance Encore, better known as Sammy, a Crabbet Arabian stallion bred and owned by Rowena Bertram. Sammy is enormous fun and, as one judge recently described him, a real “pocket rocket”, which Sam says sums him up perfectly. Sam and Sammy have won at novice, elementary and medium level and are now focusing on developing the strength, balance and carrying power needed for the more advanced work. They also do in-hand training, which has helped build Sammy’s strength and understanding, while keeping his work varied and enjoyable. They have even been known to throw in the occasional jump for fun and reward. One of the things I love most about Sammy is his attitude. He’s always up for learning something new, throws himself into his work with enthusiasm and never fails to put a smile on my face.
