I’ve been using the Finer Equine Saddle Cover for two-and-a-half years. So this is a long-term test and means I’ve really been able to get a true idea of how good the saddle cover is at its job of protecting my saddle.

Why I like it

The faux-sheepskin lining provides cushioning and protection for your saddle.

Faux sheepskin lining protects the leather and elastic edges hold the saddle cover in place

The outer material is waterproof and tough – even after all this time it’s showing no signs of wear at all. The only slight downside is that it’s only wipe clean. It is looking a little grubby and wiping clean doesn’t get rid of all the marks.

The design

I have been testing the dressage version and you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into the cut of this saddle cover. It’s slightly oversized so that it fits neatly over your saddle and covers it completely, even if you have large knee blocks. Elastic edges hold the cover securely in place.

Another great feature is the girth sleeve. This is also lined with faux sheepskin and holds your girth neatly and securely on top of your saddle.

Leather piping gives the cover shape without it being rigid – this also adds to the luxury look of the product.

Value for money

I did think twice when I saw the price of this saddle cover because it is expensive. However, having used it for such a long time — over two years — it has paid its way and I can honestly say it’s worth every penny. I saved for a long time to buy my saddle and using the Finer Equine Saddle Cover is keeping it well protected from damage and the elements.

The verdict

Overall I’m really impressed with the quality of this product. It looks smart and offers superior protection compared to other saddle covers.
