From 6-10 May riders from across the world had planned to attend Badminton, but will now be participating in a 5* Virtual Event raising funds for NHS Charities Together to support doctors and nurses fighting Covid-19.

A variation on an actual International 3 day event, in Virtual Eventing riders will trot up (in a variety of outrageous outfits), do the 5* dressage test judged by an international ground jury of Jane Tolley, Les Smith and Annabel Scrimgeour (who won’t be stuck in a wooden box this time, but judging the 5* test from their sofas), cross-country with a difference and showjump a set course at home.

Riders who’ve signed up to the challenge include William Fox-Pitt, Gemma Tattersall and Laura Collett. View the full list here.

Organiser Rachel Wakefield-Wynne said: “I came up with an innovative idea to get the World’s Eventing community together for a variation on an actual International 3 Day Event. With massive support from lots of people I’m off and running.

“The riders have the format which they can achieve in compliance with relevant BEF guidance, and although they might be scratching their heads right now they’re up for the challenge.

”Thank you to all those who have already donated, let’s keep it going to give back to our NHS and let’s make this big!”
