On Saturday, 3 August Ride Around the World Day provided the opportunity for Pony Club Members past and present, to unite all over the globe to share their connection to The Pony Club and what it means to them, in celebration of The Pony Club’s 90th anniversary.

Even the royal family joined in – held at Gatcombe Park, Princess Anne’s Gloucestershire home, the Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing hosted a parade of 29 Pony Club branches from all over the west of England and Wales.

The Queen's granddaughter Zara Tindall and her husband Mike attended with their young daughters and nieces. Mia (five), Lena (one) and their cousins, Isla and Savannah (Peter Phillips’ children), were presented with a toy Pony Club Pony, complete with rug and headcollar.

Several Pony Club members also had the opportunity for a brief chat with both Princess Anne and Zara Tindall as they joined the parade in the main arena.

Thousands have taken part whether riding, competing, grooming or simply spending time with horses and friends – from afar afield as Australia, Canada, South Africa, Turkey and USA. Many have taken to social media, using #PonyClubWorldRide to share their photos, videos and stories.

Members also had the opportunity to use a specially composed piece of music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, himself a keen supporter of The Pony Club with his wife, Lady Lloyd Webber, its current president.

Christopher Bromfield, chairman of The Pony Club said: “What a great day this has been for our members to celebrate their connection with friends, ponies and The Pony Club through all the wonderfully creative things they have done – from musical rides to pony races; obstacle courses with ponies; 90th birthday cake making and fun rides all over the world. Thank you to everyone who has taken part, including all the hundreds of volunteers who have made today possible.”
