Redwings Horse Sanctuary is helping to banish holiday boredom with the return of its annual Summer Club, offering children free and fun activities over the school break.
From Friday 28th July, Redwings’ Norfolk, Essex and Warwickshire visitor centres will be hosting a free weekly Summer Club, giving children aged seven to 11 years old (and their parents/guardians!) the chance to experience the world of the Sanctuary for themselves.
Summer Club sessions will take place every Friday at 11.30am until Friday 11th August.
Each 45-minute session offers a range of hands-on activities to show how Redwings looks after the rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules in its care.
The Summer Club is perfect for children who don't have a horse of their own, but who want to experience what's involved in caring for one.
They’ll be able to get stuck in making dinner for a peckish pony, preparing a comfy stable to help a nervous horse feel at home and even have a go at being a mini-vet, while enjoying plenty of cuddles with the visitor centres’ adorable horsey and donkey residents, of course!
Those who are able to attend four or more of the Summer Club sessions will also receive a special Redwings rosette.
As well as the Summer Club, each of Redwings’ visitor centres is hosting a jam-packed schedule of summer activities for all ages, including exclusive meets and greets with some of their most characterful rescued residents, fascinating talks, guided walks and pony grooming – and, don’t forget, entry to all visitor centres is completely free!
Redwings Ada Cole in Essex, Redwings Aylsham and Redwings Caldecott in Norfolk, and Redwings Oxhill in Warwickshire are open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 10am to 4pm (closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).
Places for each session are booked on a first-come first-served basis, and parents/guardians can sign up their children at the visitor centre on the day, or book in advance by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
