The RDA and SEIB have launched a new showing series, with the first riders landing their place in the final last weekend.
The SEIB Search for a Star RDA showing series saw 42-year old Kathryn Wheelock win the very first ticket to the final at the British Show Horse Association National Hunter Championship show in September with her horse, Westpoint First of Many.
Following in second place was 15-year old Kayla Pratt, who also qualified for the final with her horse Hunky Dory.
Kathryn, who has cerebral palsy and learning difficulties said about her horse: “You really could do anything with him — it would never occur to him to do anything nasty,”
This is the first showing series for RDA and gives disabled riders another discipline to try.
It is part of SEIB’s pledge to put something back into the horse world, which it serves so well through insurance for horses, ponies, lorries, trailers and everything in between.
