Michael Jung has won the Kentucky three-day event for the third year in a row.
Riding his 12-year old mare, FischerRocana, the German eventer finished in first place with 42.7 points, despite having a fence down in the showjumping phase.
France’s Maxime Livio finished in second place on his dressage score of 44.6 points, while Great Britain’s Zara Tindall came third with her dressage score of 46.6 points on her horse, High Kingdom.
The results see Jung and Livio go head-to-head on the FEI Classics series leaderboard, with both riders on 27 points after three events, making this weekend’s event at Badminton sure to be an exciting one.
Speaking after his win, Michael Jung said: “She is a really wonderful horse, a top fighting girl. She jumped wonderfully and was only a bit spooky at the white fence.
“I really like Kentucky – and not just because I win here! – but because I feel very welcome. You can train the horse for every phase and it’s why I like it and why I come back.”
