Emily is delighted to have secured Langford Take the Biscuit

Eventer Emily, daughter of the legend Mary King will keep the ride on Langford Take the Biscuit (AKA Hobby) after raising the £40,000 needed to buy him through a crowdfunding initiative. She confirmed on 28 May that the six-year old will now stay with her.

Although some criticism was levelled at Emily for her approach to buying the horse, 556 generous people pledged money, including ‘private investors’ who put forward the balance required once the donations were in.

All the lucky donators will be invited to watch Hobby compete and to enjoy yard-visits and course walks with Emily. There will be regular newsletters too – so a great opportunity to enjoy a horse that would normally be out of reach. The grateful Emily has pledged to give all of Hobby’s future winnings to charity to say thank you.

Hobby was offered for sale for a number of reasons, and Emily was determined to raise the money to keep him after spotting his potential early on.  She now hopes to continue to work him through the levels and right to the top.
