Catch a glimpse of some of the most famous Burghley fences and clock up some miles for the Your Horse magazine Hack 1000 Miles campaign on the SEIB Burghley Sponsored Ride - if If you haven't yet booked your place, now's the time to do it!
This fun ride gives you the opportunity to bring your horse to one of the world’s most prestigious three day events and raise money for charity. Taking place on Sunday 3rd September 2017 over a 12km track on the world-famous Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials course - it's an event not to be missed.
The SEIB Burghley Sponsored Ride is a great activity to do with friends, as a yard or, as a club and, the 12km track equates to 7.5 miles which could be used to add to you Hack 1000 Miles tally! (If you've not yet heard about the new campaign visit www.hack1000miles.co.uk)
Open to riders five years old and upwards and it's also an ideal event to participate in as a family. Among the many groups that took part last year were 14 Icelandic horses from the Icelandic Horse Society GB (IHSGB), who turned a few heads dressed as Vikings. Society member Karen Smith organised the ride as part of the society’s 30th Anniversary celebrations.
“I was coming anyway with a friend and I knew the society would be up for it,” explained Karen. IHSGB Chairman, Dave Savage, and his wife Anna were part of the group. “It was such a fun event, we’ll definitely come again this year. We want to make it an annual event,” said Anna.
Entry costs just £33 per rider and every rider is urged to seek as much sponsorship as possible in order raise a substantial amount for the chosen charities. The equine charities that will benefit from the 2017 SEIB Burghley Sponsored ride are; Claire Lomas spinal research, World Horse Welfare, British Horse Society, The Horse Trust and the Animal Health Trust. Owing to the generosity of the event’s sponsors SEIB Insurance Brokers, the support of volunteers from Stamford XT, and permission from Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials and Burghley Estate, 100% of the money raised will go to the named charities.
Ride organiser, Ian Scott said, “Last year’s ride raised over £22,000, that meant that since the ride started in 1996 we have raised a cumulative total of over £222,000. We are delighted to be donating money to such deserving charities.”

“This is a wonderful opportunity for riders of all levels to ride round Burghley and raise money for charity at the same time. Importantly, 100% of the money raised by participants will go to charity,” said SEIB Marketing Manager, Nicolina Mackenzie who's also backing the Your Horse Hack 1000 Miles campaign. "This new campaign is for everyone, it doesn't matter if you're a happy hacker or if you compete in dressage, eventing or showing, everyone can enjoy hacking and Hack 1000 Miles is a great way to encourage people to get out and about with their horses."

The company is also the sponsor and organiser of the hugely popular SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse show class held in the main arena also on the Sunday at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.
Everyone completing the course will receive a special SEIB Insurance Brokers rosette and goody bag and there will be Burghley sponsored prizes for the most money raised. Local volunteers from Stamford ex-Tablers will provide marshalling on the ride.
