Brooke launches Hack to Remember Day

Brooke will mark the anniversary of the Battle of the Somme on Sunday 1 July by urging riders across the UK to Hack to Remember in memory of horses, donkeys and mule of the past.

The day will highlight the charity’s yearlong Every Horse Remembered campaign, which marks 100 years since the end of WW1. Millions of heroic equines struggled through terrible conditions, making a massive contribution to the war effort. Eight million of them didn’t make it home.

On 1 July, whether you wish to remember horses from the war or a special horse from your own past, Brooke would like you to hack out in honour of these generous animals and share your messages and pictures on social media using the hashtag #hacktoremember. You can also join Brooke’s official event page on Facebook by searching Hack to Remember. Brooke hopes to raise £1M this year to help reach more vulnerable horses, donkey’s and mules, and the families who depend on them.

If you enjoy  hacking, why not join our #hack1000miles campaign and use the miles you hack to remember horses from the past while adding to your mileage tally at the same time. Sign up for #hack1000miles at and join our Facebook group too.  There are rewards to claim for achieving certain milestones – at 50, 100, 200, 500 and 800 miles as well as the finish line, and rewards include NAF vouchers, free product samples and a nutritional consultation.

For more details and to find out how to claim the rewards, sign up at the web address and look out for the announcement in the Hack 1000 Miles Facebook group.
