Have you ever dreamed of working for your favourite magazine? Would you love the chance to write about horses, report from equestrian events and interview top riders like Carl and Charlotte? Well, here at Your Horse magazine, we’re on the lookout for a confident new writer who can join our fun and friendly team. If you love all-things horsey and have loads of ideas for the mag, you could be the person for us!
As part of the role, we’ll need you to contribute to all aspects of the magazine, as well as our brand-spanking new website. This includes writing features, instruction and news. To do this, you’ll need to be confident enough to interview some of the best riders, trainers and equestrian experts in the UK. Could you strike up a conversation with William Fox-Pitt?
You’ll be able to transform a simple brief into engaging copy that’s perfect for the Your Horse reader and if you’re the person for the job, you’ll be excellent at writing, communicating, planning and organising yourself and you’ll have a strong attention to detail. You’ll also be super creative, great at time-management and be able to problem solve.
Experience of writing (ideally for a national publication or website) is essential, and we’ll need to see examples of work you’ve had published too. You’ll need to be conscientious, hardworking, self-motivated and a team-player with plenty of initiative.
A good understanding of social media is definitely a must, as is your ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ideally, you’ll have brilliant horse knowledge and an interest in equestrian sport already. A degree in journalism, NTCJ or similar would be great, as would having contacts in the equestrian world.
We’re looking for someone that can work full-time, between 9am and 5.30 Monday-Friday. The role is based at our offices in Peterborough, but you’ll also be expected to attend events too, which may be out of hours. Your salary will depend on how much experience you have.
If you think you tick all the boxes and would like to join the Your Horse team, email your:
- Covering letter
- Three content ideas for Your Horse magazine
- Two examples of your work
The closing date for this role will be Monday 13 February, so don’t delay!
