Two friendly giants Lewis and Harris who’ve been named after famous Scottish islands in the Western Isles, are the new police recruits for Police Scotland’s mounted unit.
The members of the public got the chance to name one of them in an online vote last week and selected Harris for the cheeky, friendly Clydesdale gelding, who stands at 17hh. He has already attended football matches as part of his training which will continue over the next few months. During his training his partner on the beat is Lewis a 16.2hh gelding. He previously worked in a riding school, but now loves the attention from the all the officers and staff at Police Scotland's mounted branch.
It probably won't be long before we see this pair tackling crime and disorder on the streets.
