Fancy designing the last fence at Badminton Horse Trials? Now's your chance.

You’re sure to have a bit of spare time over the festive period, so why not put pen to paper and unleash your artistic talent designing a cross country fence for the Badminton Horse Trials. This competition is open to anyone, and is the first of its kind to be hosted by Badminton.

2017 sees a new cross country course designer at Badminton and Eric Winter will be keen to make his mark on this iconic course. “I was delighted to be asked to design the course for Badminton, an event I have admired all my life," says Eric, "so it seemed apt to share the opportunity I have been given with others who both love the event as well as the idea of designing a cross country fence for it.”

Entries close on 29th January, so you have a bit of time to perfect your design. After the closing date the judging begins. Out of all entries a team of three judges will select their favourite ten designs. It's then over to the public to vote for their favourite from the top ten. You'll be able to vote by visiting from 15th – 28th February.

The winner will be the design that gains the most votes and will be announced on 1 March. The lucky winner will then see their design transformed into a fence by Olympic course builders, the Willis Bros, and will become the final fence on the 2017 course at Badminton which runs from Wednesday 3rd – Sunday 7th May.
