As Christmas creeps closer, we’ve been keeping our eyes peeled for all the festive signs – mince pies, wrapping paper and of course, ponies in fancy dress!

And our #Hack1000Miles riders haven’t disappointed – they’ve been up to all sorts already, including festive rides, trying their hand at competing and keeping an eye out for the antics of a very naughty Elf on the Shelf…

1 The perfect Santa hat for horses!

“I think I embarrassed Vicky today by enforcing the Christmas spirit on her,” laughs Sally Hudson.

2 Drivers are keeping on the good list!

“Barney had his first outing in his Christmas outfit, I’m not sure he was too impressed though!” says Liz Roskell.

“We clocked up 4.5 miles and noticed drivers seemed more cautious on the road… this outfit is much better than hi-vis – can I wear it all year?”

3 A spot of Christmas sho-ho-ho jumping!

Teri Bracken took her gelding to have a go at some clear round.

“We decided not to hack as the rain was a pain, so we went indoors instead!” she says.

“We went on our Christmas ride out with the AVR today,” Tammy Goldstein tells us.

“A lovely route with fancy dress and a rosette at the end. Who wouldn’t be happy with that?”

5 Elf on the Shelf might be on the naughty list…

The Elf on the Shelf at Miki Waddington’s yard has been misbehaving… he’s held wheelbarrows hostage, made himself a hammock out of twine, and hidden in the shavings bales!

6 But hopefully he’s not this naughty!

Helen Elliott’s horse decided to stop any antics in their tracks!

“When our elf took a visit down to the yard, he got himself into a spot of trouble,” Helen laughs.
