The Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre

The Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre is a registered charity that takes in ex-racehorses with the aim of rehoming them to loan homes for the rest of their lives. All horses that arrive with at the centre are physically assessed before starting on their own individual training plan designed to prepare them for a new career, whether that's as a competition horse or a pleasure hack.

Kath Pinington is the centre's head trainer, and has previously evented to 3*** level, including being long listed for the Olympics in 2000. Kath will work with some current TRC horses at Your Horse Live to show what the centre looks for when assessing new arrivals. In particular Kath will show what she looks for when deciding if a horse has the potential to successfully event. She will discuss common issues encountered with ex-racers, including those to do with temperament and conformation, and will show exercises to improve an ex-racer's athletic ability and jumping technique.
