Puckeridge Hunt Pony Club land the winning spot in the jumping at Burghley

With a difficult course, Puckeridge Hunt Pony Club did well to scope the win at The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials on the Thursday.

A thrilling finish to the The SSG Pony Club team showjumping with a nail-biting final round consisting of eight teams and a last minute win by four member squad the Puckeridge Hunt. 

The SSG Pony Club team showjumping competition is by invitation only and is run in one section for teams of three or four horses, or ponies, each ridden by a different rider. 

The course saw a number of refusals and some impressive clears, but the team from the managed to steal the top spot with four clears in the final jump off – the only club to do so.

The Puckeridge was an all-girl team, with twin sisters Chloe and Daisy De Uphaugh, Alice Shickell and Sophie Byford. 

The South Norfolk Club who were third at Burghley last year came second place and finished on four faults.
