The sixth and final leg of the Event Rider Masters (ERM) will take place at the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials (10-11 September).
This weekend, the ERM which is a new and shortened CIC*** format aiming to showcase the sport of Eventing to global audiences will feature a tremendous line-up of the world’s best event riders. The event will see six of the top ten FEI world ranking riders; Chris Burton (2) AUS, Sir Mark Todd (4) NZ, Astier Nicolas (6) FRA, Tim Price (7) NZ, Shane Rose (8) AUS and Oliver Townend (10) GBR as they set to fight to be the first ERM champion.
With competitor’s taking forward their four best scores from the previous five ERM legs to the final, four riders are in the position to potentially claim the ERM title worth a total of £50,000.
Paul Tapner, has competed in all five legs of the ERM rattling up 93 points. He’s been consistent in each competition, which has kept him at the top of the leader-board since leg four. He partner’s Yogi Bear VIII at Blenheim, who finished in second place for him at leg 3 in July.
Hot on Paul’s heels is Gemma Tattersall who has 92 points. The Team GB Rio rider who’s featured on the podium twice in third place, will team up with Chico Bella who has a brilliant CiC*** record.
Oliver Townend has dominated the last two ERM podium finish’s and sits in third place on 74 points. Oliver who’s had two back to back wins in leg’s four and five will partner with the same horse again, Cillnabradden Evo.
Jonelle Price sits in striking distance in fourth place with 71 points. Jonelle is also a Blenheim specialist and has won the last two consecutive running’s of the CiC***, including last year’s competition with Cloud Dancer, who she partners again for the ERM finale.
