A horse has been killed in a horrific traffic accident in North Wales yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 6pm last night, after a horse was struck by a car.
The horse – who was being ridden along the road with one other horse and rider – was thought to have been struck behind by the car.
Upon collision, local papers have reported that the horse fell to the road, landing on the rider who is thought to be a woman in her fifties.
The rider was uninjured, but sadly the horse died at the scene after sustaining serious injuries.
Speaking to Your Horse, a spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “We can confirm that police were called shortly before 6pm last night (Wednesday, September 28th) to a report of a collision between a car and a horse on Sychnant Pass in Conwy.
“An officer attended however the rider was uninjured. The vehicle details were passed to police and the driver made contact with officers last night.”
Police enquiries into the collision are still ongoing.
