Thanks to the Olympic Games in London and now Rio, dressage to music is more popular then ever and one lady is helping to make this sport better than ever by creating bespoke floor plans and music for the horse and rider.
Gaynor Colbourn, from Carmarthen in Wales, is a professional musician with a passion for horses. Using her skills as a composer, and her experience as a session musician, she creates tailor-made floor plans and dressage music for riders in any style and genre they like.
From planning to execution, she’s involved every step of the way and you can see exactly how she works at Your Horse Live this November (12-13) at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.
In this exclusive Your Horse Live demonstration visitors will watch in awe as Gaynor works with two Advanced riders and their horses, assessing each horse's paces in walk, trot and canter as well as during changes, piaffe, and passage. But that’s not all! Throughout her demo, Gaynor will be playing live on her keyboard to show how music can be applied to suit each horse’s paces and character and, as she explains, no two horses are ever the same!
“What suits one horse, may not be suitable for another, even if their paces are similar,” says Gaynor. “During my demo I’ll show the audience how to create a floor plan that’s both technically demanding, within the horse's limits, and artistically beautiful.”
Gaynor will also be encouraging interaction and feedback during the demos from both riders and the audience so be sure to grab a seat for this demo so you can get in on the action.
