There's been an action packed couple of days at Hartpury’s Festival of Dressage, where both Olympic selected Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin began their Rio warm-up in style.
The duo, who used the festival as their last event before heading to Brazil, both claimed a win with Carl taking top spot ahead of Charlotte in the Lemieux FEI Grand Prix, while Charlotte claimed first place in the Young Horse Prix St. Georges Qualifier.
There was fierce competition in the Young Horse Prix St Georges Qualifier where there was only one per cent between the top three. Charlotte Dujardin and Hawtins Delicato took the lead with 75.66%, closely followed by Sonnar Murray-Brown and Erientanz on 75.04%, while Michael Eilberg stole the third spot aboard SA Couer with 74.78%. The top eight have now gone through to the British Young Horse Championship at this Saturday’s star-studded gala evening.
Meanwhile it was Carl Hester and Wanadoo who stole the show in the Lemieux FEI Grand Prix. His score of 74.78% was enough to edge teammate Charlotte and Barolo into second place. Katherine Bateson-Chandler claimed third place with a score of 70.22%.
