From the 25 – 28 August Blair Castle will attract over 40,000 spectators and competitors for four days of top flight competition. As the event is just after Rio Olympics, this might attract some of the most successful riders in the world to use Blair as their end of season run.
Following on from last year’s European Championships held at Blair Castle, the cross-country course will remain testing by using the stunning natural terrain to pose a unique challenge to horse and rider. The route will also see competitor’s ride through the castle gardens
This year also sees Blair Castle Equi-Trek International Horse Trials hold the penultimate competition for the Event Riders Master Series, which will mean the £30,000 leading rider prize could be lost or won over the course of the weekend. This innovative competition, where each leg of the series is only open to a select field of 40 top-ranked riders and emerging talent FEI riders, this will mean the best of the best will be heading north for the title.
Although, eventing is the headline attraction, there’s also a huge variety of other features including show jumping, showing, a shopping village, food hall and a country fair arena, which will run alongside the main competition and provide a full four days of entertainment.
