A 20-minute interval training session should consist of:

– Four minutes in walk

– Three minutes in trot

– One minute in walk

– Two minutes in canter

– One minute in walk

– Two minutes in canter

– One minute in walk

– Two minutes in canter

– A four-minute cool off

– Remember to change the rein regularly throughout

Two to three weeks later, once you’ve got the 20-minute session sussed, work up to this 30-minute session:

– Four minutes in walk

– Three minutes in trot

– Two minutes in canter

– One minute in walk

– Three minutes in canter

– One minute in walk

– Three minutes in canter

– Three minutes in canter
