Yesterday I noticed that Tilly had some little flies around her tummy and where her teats are so this morning i decided to clean around her teats. I used a little bit of Tenor's sheath cleaner diluted in water and cotton wool. I can safely say that she did'nt appreciate it atall ! she stamped her foot down hard a couple of times ( maybe this was a warning ) then she kicked out and meant it !!  I tried again, this time holding her tail tight agains't her leg but she kicked out again so i stopped. Horse Care

wood pellet bedding and barefoot horse

Hi - has anyone used wood pellet bedding (e.g. Verdo) with an ushod horse?

He has been unshod for about a year following an operation (farrier is trimming and will put shoes back on if needed) and while he was in a different field, further away down a track, he was picking up a lot of grit between his hoof walls.  I just wondered if the wood pellets also tend to get caught up in the hoof?

Some friends have it and it seems brilliant but all their horses are shod.

Horse Bedding

I like many have problems with Horse Bedding, as finding such a difference between products not counting types as well. What suits one horse is no good for another, with one mare reasonably dry but the other she just makes a horrible mess, the Shetlands do what they do in just the one spot which can make life easier. Gone have the old days of Straw which I used to use but unfortunately quality went off. When I was an apprentice we had difficulty getting rid of shavings which were not used at the time with horses.
