I bought my first horse 18 months ago. The first 5 weeks were great then he started napping. The first time he did it he just stopped sharp and span round. When i tried to turn him back round he reared, i was really scared at this point as it was my first horse and he was sold to me as a novice horse. Me been the more mature rider the next time we went out my husband came out with me on his bike we got out on to the road and he did it again this time he reared straight away about 5 times getting higher and higher, so high my husband could walk under him. This horse had done this before. I  phoned the seller and they said he never did this but he was,nt the most confident horse on his own. We had his teeth ,back saddle checked then i moved him to a yard where i could get help. After lots of lessons and him been ridden by an very experienced rider we have sorted him out. I hack out on my own go show jumping , x-country , social rides. I now have a lovely horse who respects me and has gained the confidence from me with lots of flat work and lessons. Sometimes you have to stick with it.
