May To kick off May, we were off to Keysoe Event at The College Equestrian. This is our first PN and are were keen to give this a go. Nerves showed with a rare error in the dressage for a deduction of two marks plus a lot more lost through my inaccuracy. However, I was not too disappointed with my overall mark which put us about 12th at this stage.

Then disaster struck in the show jumping.

It was an imposing course with lots of lovely decorative flower displays and a couple of cars in the arena for Rupert to spook at! With a surprising refusal at fence three and another at five, we managed to get around. The XC had caused lots of talk in the lorry park, partially the nasty drop to a massive narrow fence (see picture) and a big ditch/hedge fence at fence ten. This fence actually jumped beautifully, Rupert gave a really bold leap over this and I wish there was a photographer at this fence! I was so happy to have completed our first PN and was generally pleased with the results of the day.

This was a big learning curve for me and was glad to have a few lessons coming up to iron out a few of the blips. Bring on the next event! 11th The following weekend we were competing at Sheepgate Equestrian, to have a crack at some British Dressage.
