Hi.

I thought I'd share my story of my 16.1hh x-polo pony bay thoroughbred gelding who only has one eye. He arrived at my local ridng school underweight, forgotten and mad!! No one wanted him! I was on he look out for a horse at the time and heard about this one but was warned about it.

I rode it to see if i liked it one day and being a polo pony after taking 10 minutes to mount it was off and in canter by the first corner, it was scared to go near a pole, wouldnt canter on the right leg let alone in a straight line and was literally mad! I fell in love with it though and started loaning it, I didnt know much i had only been riding once a week for 3 years at my local riding school but we gradually started learning together cantering on the right leg ect and doing pole work.

My parents as a surprise one day decided to buy him for me for little money. My childhood dream had finally come true! we learnt more and more and slowly discovered he was a very talented horse. 2 years on, he is now 8 years old and we are now competing at all the local shows and in our a recent prelim dressage class came first with a score of 69% and now jumping 2'6'' and 2'9'' clear rounds, very speedy against the clock. We also came 3rd in a big 3 foot open cross country last year against very good competiton!

We are now planning and getting ready to have a go at Intro BE next year! Id just like people out there to know my story, as I have known quite a few people whos horses have lost an eye or sight in one eye and have just given up on them and even put healthy happy one eyed horses down! x
