A year ago I sat on Malakai for the first time at my local stables, well I say sat... it took half an hour to get on him and when I was finally on he bronked my round the school till I came off... I asked the instructor if he was OK and she told me he was sound, just green.. I was in love. This stunning bay Welsh D gelding. He had only been backed and ridden properly for a year or so despite being 7. A few months later I got him on loan and our journey begun, he is such a trusting horse and has so much to give, the riding centre have done an amazing job with bringing him this far. I was told he was a rubbish jumper, and many people have tried to bring us down, he refused tiny cross poles, bucked for england and generally had spazzes. It was my journey too now, I was still learning to ride, after 2 months I managed to get him over verticle's up to 2ft6, and a few simple cross country style jumps... then the economic crisis hit.. i had to stop the loan. After 2 months straight of not seeing him, I decided to still see him on sunday's, earning rides and hacks. His improvement since then has been phenominal, he has proved to everyone how amazing he is, he striding and shape and bravery.. he still has much to learn but boy did that horse show us, he jumped 3ft8 in a chase me charlie.... the horse who refused cross poles, words cannot describe how much I love him, and how amazing he is. I love Malakai - and you will be seeing more of us I promise that.
