Behind the scenes at Rossdales

Yesterday I spent the day at the internationally renowned Rossdales Veterinary Practice in Newmarket – it was fascinating!
In my job I’m really lucky that I do get to see what most horse owners wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to witness or experience. Yesterday was one of those occasions.
I travelled to Newmarket with my good friend Matthew, our excellent Your Horse photographer. En route, we weren’t entirely sure how much we’d be able to see on our behind the scenes visit so we were amazed at the things we saw throughout the day.
We were there to spend the day with vet nurse Bonny Millar for a ‘day in the life of’ feature we are running next year (keep and eye out for that).
Bonny was great, despite being so busy she made sure we always had something to photograph or watch and it gave Matthew and I a much better understanding of what vet nurses have to deal with on a daily basis – it’s certainly not a job for the weak willed or lazy!
We saw the nurses and vets hard at work, witnessing everything from minor wound treatment, to spine surgery and sarcoid removal by laser.
We both felt very privileged to have been allowed into Rossdales in such a way and I really look forward to telling you all about it in my upcoming feature – I’ll let you know when it’s coming! For now, I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Rossdales for making us feel so welcome and for giving us an insight to their work.
