Douglas Bunn, master of Hickstead, has been awarded the Liz Dudden Trophy by the British Equestrian Writers Association (BEWA). The award was made at the Association's annual lunch, held at the Queen's Club, London.
The trophy, first awarded in 1993, is given each year to a person, other than a competitor, who has made a major contribution to equestrian sport.
Douglas, a former international rider and chef d'equipe of the British team, built and opened the All England Jumping Course at Hickstead, Sussex, in 1960.
Douglas has invested millions of pounds of his own money into the development and upkeep of the Sussex showground which now has a reputation as one of the best permanent outdoor equestrian venues in the world.
Douglas has twice been president of the British Show Jumping Association.
