A dedicated Horse Watch scheme has been set up by horse owners in Warwickshire in partnership with Warwickshire Police to prevent and be aware of equine related crime.
Horse Watch members receive email alerts from Warwickshire Police relating to horse and rural related incidents in their county. In addition a website has been launched for anyone with an interest in horses which includes a daily log providing details on equine crime in Warwickshire and bordering counties.
Carol Cotteril of Warwickshire Horse Watch explained that as well as providing crime prevention advice and alerts to equine crimes in Warwickshire the new scheme is linked with other organisations and Police forces to give up to date info on its website of offences and issues that affect the equine community.
“It is a totally free service and available to everyone to access, you don't have to be in Warwickshire to join or get information,” she said.
The website - www.warwickshire-horsewatch.co.uk contains crime prevention advice for horse owners, documents to download, links to other equine/crime prevention websites, including Warwickshire Police and an incident log of equine and rural crimes.
Chief Constable Andy Parker said: “I am delighted to give my full support to Warwickshire Horse Watch. It is important that both the Police and Horse Owners work together to tackle equine crime. Horse Watch enables us to do that and the new website will increase the information and advice we can provide together for horse owners throughout the county”.
