Having read the News report ‘Guilty as Charged’ you’ve come to learn more about the horses, ponies and donkeys rescued from Spindles farm in 2008 – thank you.
As you’ll soon see they’re all doing great which is down to each of their strong characters and to those who’ve been caring for them over the past two years.
Please take some time to read their stories and if you can visit the Redwings Horse Sanctuary website to see how you can help them. It could be anything from donating or fundraising to visiting the centres or even adopting! Just go to www.redwings.org.uk to find out more.
First up...
Pinocchio
Miniature Shetland pony Pinocchio was just a year old when he was rescued from Spindle Farm. He weighed just 46kg on arrival - the equivalent of two bags of feed and was classified by Redwings’ resident vets as ‘body condition score 0-1/2’ which in lay terms means he was emaciated.
Pinocchio was also heavily infested with lice and had breathing problems, wasted muscles and a heavy worm burden.
Fully recovered, Pinocchio is now full of personality. He doubled his weight in his first ten months at Redwings, is now bold as brass and has discovered a knack for football that would make Sir Alex Ferguson reach for his chequebook!
